A place for non-work-related flimflam, faffing, hodge-podge or jibber-jabber you’d prefer to keep out of more focused work-related channels.

@Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse) Yikes, I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what value they get from such a test. Perhaps they get delivery confirmation receipts from the carriers and can measure impact? 🤔

"The President will not originate this alert, say, from his mobile device," a senior FEMA official told reporters on Tuesday. "You would not have a situation where any sitting president would wake up one morning and attempt to send a particular message."

Funny that the need to say that is like 100x with the current pres.

Anybody having issues with EKS LoadBalancers? My deployments all go across smooth but my services all have been failing health checks and won't expose externally

As technical users, I am sure we all ran our own smtp/imap/twig setups back in ‘96 on our stampede Linux servers in the basement of our parents home, but interesting to see someone trying to bring it back for the masses.

Channel is getting so big.. Is anyone interested in collaboration on creating AWS+Terraform courses ? Both open source and closed source ?

does anybody have some ideas how to have a secondary storage solution for the stuff stored on Github?
At this moment Github can be the major single point of failure for many processes…

Same for Dockerhub (private registries as a solution, but not always, again…)

GitLab has an automatic replication mode you can use to setup regular offsite backups

One of our customers uses this

To be clear, you can replicate from GitHub to GitLab or pretty much any git server

@Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse) thank you for the suggestion, it seems like a possible solution, but need to check if it works for the common Gitlab license and not only for EE, though some custom scripts could be used as well…
Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse)
Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse)about 8 years ago
yea - I don’t think they are on enterprise, but could be mistaken. @Igor Rodionov do you know?

could do a webhook based solution... push to github, trigger webhook, <function to pull repo and push to alt host>
Alexander Tolstikov
Alexander Tolstikovabout 8 years ago
I’d like to have some turn-key solution, e.g, just put a list of repos in the config file and let the script to do everything else…

Seems like an idea for the hobby project 🙂
Alexander Tolstikov
Alexander Tolstikovabout 8 years ago
and be able to switch all the processes to another set of repos by demand (in ideal world)

We have temporarily paused delivery of webhooks while we address an issue. We are working to resume delivery as soon as possible.

heh. we're so tired of the ancient pkg versions in RHEL repos, our secret hope is that ibm does destroy them, and in turn drive the govt to finally start authorizing ubuntu 😂

Are there any real technology gains with getting RH I wonder, sure they get massive government contracts world wide and an "in", into pushing them into their cloud which would otherwise be hard to do.
