👋 tem is hiring two Senior Staff ICs — fully remote, EU/UK
tem builds the pricing infrastructure behind commercial energy contracts — the transaction engine (Rosso) that prices deals, balances portfolios, and sits on the critical path for every trade we close. Both roles are hands-on, high-leverage IC positions — no direct reports, real technical ownership.
1. Senior Staff ML Engineer — Pricing
Own the pricing ML inside Rosso — the models that set the fee on every quote and manage imbalance risk across the book. Greenfield, ambiguous, and it moves fast: you're choosing between stochastic optimisation, classical ML, and RL based on the problem, not your favourite tool.
• Stack: Python, PyTorch, solvers like Gurobi where they fit better than gradient methods
• Bonus for energy/power trading background, or research depth in a quantitative field
• £127,000 (or local equivalent) + equity
2. Senior Staff Engineer — Origination & New Products
Lead a new 3-person squad building product categories that don't exist at tem yet — deep Rosso integration, pricing capability, deal-risk tooling. Technical leadership, not people management: your influence is measured by whether other squads build faster because of the patterns you set.
• Stack: Python, AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge), event-driven architecture
• Bonus for energy/fintech/regulated-market experience, or having taken a product into a new country
• £117,850 (or local equivalent) + equity
Both: 25 days holiday + your birthday off, remote/wellbeing budgets, no meetings Friday afternoon, 2–3 week process start to finish.
